SS-40 T (Trailer Mounted), This modern table-drive rotary drilling rig is used for large diameter and deep water
wells, for oil & and gas wells, and for minerals exploration.
The SS-40 drilling machine can be set
up for conventional mud or air drilling, or for large diameter flooded-reverse rotary drilling.
Rig is powered
by a Detroit -Mercedes Diesel engine, via an Allison Model 754 transmission.
The standard 18" rotary table
has 150,000 inch pounds torque at 100 RPMs, is the oil bath enclosed type, with spiral cut gears, and has an 18"
opening with API master bushing removed. The standard table can be hinged forward to provide a 27" square opening.
The
mast is rated at 176,000 pounds gross mast capacity, with 60 foot working clearance above the rotary table, has a climbing
ladder, and channel tracks for retracting the swivel and kelly.
The double drum draw-works are 22,000 pound bare-drum
single-line pull, and with 6-part line provide 116,000 pounds maximum hook load with the traveling block at bottom, and 92,250
pounds working load with the block at the top of the mast.
Standard kelly is 40 ft. x 4-1/4" square. Other
sizes are available.
Rig has two hydraulic powered Catworks, for breakout and spinning. Suitable rollers are provided
on drill to guide spinning chains. Two cat-line rope spools.
The standard swivel has a 3" opening, and 3"
piping. Others available.
Rig comes with two Type F tongs.
Hydromatic brake is standard feature.
Rig
is furnished with a weight indicator with metric or English dial.
Trailer is constructed of structural steel, reinforced
and electrically welded. Equipped with three 25,000 pound axles, 75,000 pound suspension, 11:00 x 20 14-ply tires and syteel
wheels. Three stairways are standard with hand railing and walkways all around.
